Doneva Batty

Welcome to the English Language Department at Valley View Middle School. This is my 11th year teaching English Learners in Bloomington and my 4th year at Valley View. I have previously taught students from Kindergarten to 5th Grade at all language levels and abilities at Oak Grove Elementary. This year I will be teaching student who are new to the United States and are just beginning to learn English- this is our Newcomer Class.  I will also be co-teaching with the 6th Grade Science Teachers, Mrs. Griffin-Boyle and Mr. Brenberg.  My greatest joy as an EL Teacher is meeting new students from various cultures. I enjoy seeing them make progress with their English year after year.

I live in Lakeville with my husband and two children, Loic (11) and Elsa (6). We love to play games and sports, go camping, and travel. I spend a lot of my free time reading and I enjoy sharing my love of reading with my students, hoping they will come to love it too!
