Bloomington Public School's Driver Education program is now collaborating with A+ Driving School to provide students more classroom instruction options. These classes are for students not signed up to take it as a credit during their regular school day. A+ Driving School will also provide one-on-one behind-the-wheel lessons that are tailored to each student's abilities and needs.
The first step in Driver Education training is 30 hours of classroom instruction. Students may register if they are 15 years of age or if their 15th birthday is within one month prior to the first day of class. Students may register by mail or in person by using the form included in the driver education classroom schedule or online at br.thatscommunityed.com.
Cost is $110. Please make checks payable to ISD #271. To pay by credit card, please call 952-681-6111 or stop by in person at 2575 W. 88th Street. Enter door #11, 2nd floor.
Once classroom training is complete, students will receive letters of completion and must then register for behind-the-wheel training (behind-the-wheel registration form). Completion of classroom training and registration for behind-the-wheel instruction are required before a student can receive their blue card, which is required at the time of taking the driver's permit test. Information about the six hours of behind-the-wheel training will be given at the end of the classroom session. It will also be available at our office at 2575 W. 88th Street.
Refunds will not be issued after starting the class. Transportation is not provided and high school credits are not earned for after-school driver education classes.
If you have questions or would like to register, please call 952-681-6111.
