Poplar Bridge, Pond Family Center create rain gardens

Bloomington’s Poplar Bridge Elementary School and Pond Family Center are creating rain garden sites to provide hands-on experience and outdoor learning spaces for students and parents.
 
Children and parents from the Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) and preschool classes will plant the Pond Center’s rain garden on Thursday, May 16. Poplar Bridge will host a community planting day on Saturday, May 18.

Adaptive Learning program to perform original play

The Adaptive Recreation and Learning Exchange program serving adults with developmental disabilities will perform an original play, ‘AR&LE’s Got Talent: A TV Reality Check,’ at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 5, in the Olson Middle School Auditorium, 4551 W. 102nd St.

Metro South ABE earns Program of Excellence honor

Metro South Adult Basic Education has been named a 2013 Adult Basic Education (ABE) Program of Excellence by the Minnesota Department of Education and the Literacy Action Network.

BPS seeks literacy and math tutors

Bloomington Public Schools is currently seeking literacy tutors for its Early Childhood Family Center and all elementary schools, and math tutors for Hillcrest Community School and Normandale Hills Elementary. The positions are offered through the Americorps programs Minnesota Reading Corps and Minnesota Math Corps, which will assist in providing the District with full- and part-time tutors.
